The Necessity of Rainboots

You may have been told that you need to bring an umbrella to college. But at IU, that's not enough. What you really need is a good pair of rainboots.

There's nothing worse than walking 15 minutes across campus to class in the pouring rain with soaking wet feet. Some days here, it gets rough. And let me tell you something: IU does not cancel classes because of the weather. It just doesn't happen.

It rains here a lot. At least more than I expected. You don't want to be like me, caught by surprise. During the fall semester, every time it rained, it was on a Tuesday or Thursday. This was the day I had the most classes and had to trek it back and forth from Teter to the other side of campus at least 4 times a day. One day it was so warm and my shoes were so wet that I just gave up and walked barefoot to class. I wouldn't advise this.

I went home for the first time for fall break, and the one thing I knew I had to bring back with me was rainboots.

I thought I was prepared. I had my brightly flowered umbrella and my lime green Eddie Bauer windbreaker/raincoat (also recommended). But it's not enough. Get some rainboots before it's too late.

And don't forget your waterproof backpack.

Some of us from my dorm in our rain gear. (Note my post fall break orange rainboots)
