Have you ever opened Adobe Photoshop only to find you couldn't quite figure out how to use it?  Don't feel bad. After all, every expert at anything was once a beginner. If you want to be a Photoshop expert, get started now, and prepare to spend several years working at it.

Photoshop is the tool of choice for design professionals and others. According to Photoshop.com, the software is used by animators, architects, astronomers, commercial printers, illustrators, industrial designers, photographers, scientific researchers, and the list goes on. It stands to reason that having some experience with  this software will make you look good to potential employers.

Once you learn the basics of Photoshop you'll be able to accomplish simple image manipulation tasks. That may be all you ever need to do. When you have the basics under your belt, you can begin to dig deeper. These are some of the  IU IT Training workshops to start you on the journey to Photoshop mastery.

Photoshop CS6: The Basics is your first step. You'll learn about the Photoshop interface, and get an introduction to tools, layers, filters, the History Panel, saving images in different formats, and more. Even if you already know how to use the software you'll probably learn something new in this workshop. Once you learn the basics, you'll be ready for the rest of the workshops in the series.

In Photoshop CS6: Restoring and Blending Images you'll learn how to refurbish digital scans of aging photos by using channels, masks, and other techniques. Photoshop CS6: In-Depth Healing Tools introduces the Clone Stamp, Healing Brush, Spot Healing Brush, and the Patch Tool. You'll repair torn and cracked images  with  these tools. For some advanced training try Adobe CS6: Pen Tool Basics for Advanced Graphic Design. This workshop will get you started using the difficult to master Pen Tool to create vector graphics and make selections. You'll be able to use the Pen Tool for other Adobe products like Illustrator and Fireworks.
