Yes, it's that time of the year again when libraries are full, classrooms are packed with students studying and everyone goes around minding their own business. It's finals week. If you are a freshman your first college finals week might be quite an experience, but for all those veterans out there, they know how you are feeling.
Here is my guide for anyone looking to be more efficient with time management and how to ace those finals!
1. Make a daily scheduleI used to not be an advocate of doing schedules when I was back in high school but in college I found it extremely useful. When you wake up you are fresh and ready to start the day. This is the best time to set goals and plan your schedule for the day. If you have many finals, plan at what time you want to study for them, what time to have lunch and off course leave some time to relax. The last thing you want to do is to overload yourself with work…. you deserve a break.
2. Prioritize, Prioritize, PrioritizeThis is the key to successful time management. Always prioritize the most important thing and prioritize the subjects that you feel less comfortable. Give each subject a good amount of attention but focus on those that require more time and commitment. Personally, I tend to prioritize courses that I feel less comfortable with and which require more of my time. And it works!
3. Focus on single course and then move onThis doesn't mean only study for your math exam when you have your math and accounting exam on the same day. This means, study one subject at a time during the day. Focus on a specific course for a few hours then go about doing another subject but not at the same time.
At the end, it is you who are taking the finals and how you manage your time will be the key to pass them. Following these tips, finals week will be less frustrating and you will soon be on break!
