I have no idea how it's already time to move out! It feels like I just moved in to Wright and hugged my parents goodbye yesterday. While it's bittersweet moving on, there's still so much I learned and that I'm thankful for looking back.
First, not knowing anyone here was terrifying! I was scared, lonely and awkward, but luckily, I got placed on a floor with some of the greatest people. Being around each other everyday helped our friendship grow quickly, and for that, I'm so happy I became best friends with these girls. They say you don't go to college to find a husband, you go to find your bridesmaids.
Second, I learned that parenting doesn't stop after they drop you off. I called my family all the time about things I was going through, emotions, and how to do real-life-adult-things all the time. Sure they wanted to check up on me too, but they were always there to help. College has made me appreciate my family a lot more, but also realize that I have to do and learn things on my own as an adult.
Also, there's so much more to college outside of the classroom. Class is important, but so are clubs, extracurriculars, internship opportunities and learning more about yourself! It sounds cliche, but try new things, be adventurous, join something random and still go to class. Every experience is an important one, as is making connections.
Lastly, I learned to do things that make me happy. You'll look back and realize how much you've grown, what you liked, what you didn't, and that's really important. These four years are supposed to be the "best four years of your life," but not many people tell you that you may have your lowest points as well. Don't stress too much, do things you love and just enjoy it while it lasts!
Have a great summer Hoosiers!!
