Youth Advocating Leadership & Learning (Y'ALL) starting Nov. 11 is holding call-out meetings for their Winter Break Service Trip.
Their next call-outs will be on Nov. 19 and Dec. 4 at 8pm in Ballantine Hall room 241.
The trip to New Orleans will be Jan. 5-11.
I went on their Spring Break Trip this year and it was a great experience. We helped with hurricane-relief by fixing damaged homes and I even had the opportunity to work in an urban garden. Don't worry about having any construction experience because it is not necessary! I certainly did not have any.
The trip is not too expensive - it will cost anywhere between $220 and $240. This fee covers transportation, food, and lodging for the duration of the stay. You may want to bring more money for snacks and any extra things you may want. I took some spare cash for the night out on the French Quarter.
Deciding on attending this trip is one of the best decisions I've made thus far in my career at IU. Although my friends were living it up in PCB, I met a lot of cool people and spent my spring break doing something fun and meaningful.
This organization also has opportunities for leadership, which is a great resume builder!
If you have any questions, email the organization at yall@indiana.edu.
